How does Wine Radar work?
Wine Radar continuously scans Australian online wine retailers for prices. When it finds a special, it looks for experts scores. Retailer scores and consumer scores are ignored … for obvious reasons. When multiple experts give great scores and no experts give bad scores, Wine Radar takes a closer look. If the price, discount and average score meet the selection criteria, that’s a hit on the Wine Radar. All the hits are recorded in the Hit List.
Almost every day Wine Radar scans more than a dozen retailers and over 10,000 wines, and regularly finds over 100 great wine deals.
Wine Radar now has a database of over 150,000 wines, prices, scores and drinking ranges, which grows daily as it continuously scans the internet for more. This massive and comprehensive Wine Radar database is simply known as The Book.
Wine Radar also gets alerted to great wine deals which are not advertised and therefore do not make the Hit List. We call these deals Under The Radar.

Is the wine in my price range?
Everyone’s wine budget is different. And the higher the price, the better the wine should be. So Wine Radar looks for great wine deals in three price categories:
- Quaffer: Under $15, minimum 90 points
- Premium: $15 to $40, minimum 92.5 points
- Super Premium: Over $40, minimum 95 points

What is Under The Radar?
The Wine Radar Hit List finds all the best deals currently advertised. But sometimes Wine Radar is alerted to deals which are not being advertised.
Usually these deals are canceled orders or surplus stock. They are not advertised because the cheap price taints the brand and pisses off the wine makers.
Most of these deals are rubbish. But sometimes they are very, very good. Wine Radar calls these Under the Radar deals.
For Example:
> d’Arenberg Dead Arm Shiraz 2018 $35 (RRP $90)
> Eileen Hardy Shiraz 2021 $55 (RRP $160)
> Seppelts St Peters Shiraz 2019 $45 (RRP $80)
> Wolf Blass Black Label 2019 $55 (RRP $130)
Under The Radar deals have previously only been offered to an exclusive list of very happy Wine Radar insiders.
But Wine Radar is now adding more winos to this list who are also cost-conscious and discerning and “only drink great wine”.
